The papers, from which question are asked in CDS Entrance exams are English (100 Marks), General Knowledge (100 Marks) & Elementary Mathematics (100 Marks); total of 300 Marks for Indian Military Academy, Air Force Academy & Naval Academy. For Officers' Training Academy, the questions from English (100 Marks) & General Knowledge (100 Marks); total of 200 Marks are asked. All the papers are of objective type.
The Educational Qualification for CDS should be as below
Candidates successful in the written exam are then called for an interview by a Services Selection Board which evaluates a candidate's suitability for a career in the Indian Armed Forces. The SSB interview lasts for approximately a week, during which a candidate undergoes various physical and psychological tests to ascertain whether or not he is officer material. Apart from SSB interview, Air Force academy candidates are tested for Pilot Aptitude Battery test (PABT). After these tests, candidates undergone medical examination before finally admitted into the above mentioned academies, and after successful completion of training, they are inducted into the armed forces.
The papers, from which question are asked in NDA Entrance exams are Mathematics (300 Marks) & General Ability Test (600 Marks); total of 900 Marks are asked. All the papers are of objective type. General Ability Test has two part; Part A is English of 200 Marks & Part B is (General Knowledge - Physics, Chemistry, General Science, History, Geography, Current Affairs) of 400 Marks.
The Educational Qualification for NDA should be as below
Applicants to the NDA are selected via a written exam conducted by the UPSC, followed by extensive interviews covering general aptitude, psychological testing and team skills as well as physical and social skills, along with medical tests. Incoming classes are accepted twice a year for semesters starting in July and January. About 320,000 applicants sit for each written exam. Typically, about 9,000 of these are invited to interview. Applicants to join the Air Force also go through a Pilot Aptitude Battery Test. About 300-350 cadets are accepted to the academy each semester. About 66 cadets are accepted for the Air Force, 39 for the Navy and 195 for the Army.
Cadets who are accepted and successfully complete the program are sent to their respective training academies for one year of training before granting of commission: army cadets go to IMA at Dehradun, Air Force cadets to AFA at Dundigal, Hyderabad, and naval cadets to INA, Ezhimala, Kerala. A cadet can only decline a commission in case of a serious permanent medical condition caused during the program
